Winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Original Score & Best Musical, Kinky Boots features a joyous, Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, and a hilarious, uplifting book by four-time Tony winner, Harvey Fierstein. Charlie Price has reluctantly inherited his father’s shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father’s legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola. A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man that he is meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair find that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible… and discover that, when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.
Stage Center Artistic Director Jared Watson helms the production, with choreography by Katie Lerchie, and musical direction by Seth Taylor.
Headlining the production is Cordara Newson as Lola and Cade Ostermeyer as Charlie, both guest artists currently residing in NYC, returning home to lend their talents to this exciting production. They will be joined onstage by Tianna Andrews, Arms Brown, Heather Bryson, Samuel Copeland, Jim Cowles, Brandon Crist, Darion Elie, Courtnei Gabriel, Tyler Garrett, Fordham Hammond, Camren Hohn, Mary Grace Humphries, Theresa Johnson, Josie Hodges, Reaiah Kirkendoll, Jackson LaCour, Christian Perkins, Kezia Pigford, Jason Shidiskis, Selena Simmons, Brian Smith, Lacee Smith, Tucker “PJ” Souther, and Maximus Wooley.
Performances will be held at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse at Centenary College of Louisiana. Performances are July 14 and 15 at 7:30pm; 2pm and 7:30pm on July 16, and 2pm on July 17.
