Stage Center announces production of Disney’s Descendants

Stage Center (SC) and their School of Performing Arts (SoPA) proudly announce their co-production of Disney’s Descendants. The SBC debut production will open May 19, 2022 for a one-week run at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse on the Centenary College Campus. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 25 online at StageCenterLA.com or call/text (318) 218-9978.

Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Descendants is a brand-new musical comedy featuring the beloved characters and hit songs from the films! It is present-day, and in the kingdom of Auradon, all of Disney’s beloved heroes and royalty are living happily ever after, safe from the terrifying villains and troublesome sidekicks they have banished to the magic-free Isle of the Lost. That is until Ben, the benevolent teenage son of Belle and King Adam (The Beast), offers a chance of redemption for the troublemaking offspring of the evilest villains. Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos – the children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil, and Jafar – are welcomed to Auradon Prep to attend school with the children of their parents’ sworn enemies. Now entering a completely foreign world and way of life, the four Villain Kids have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?

Artistic Director Jared Watson helms the production, with choreography by Katie Lerchie, musical direction by Seth Taylor, and production stage management by Candy Huggins. This marks the 11th collaboration between their Mainstage and School, bringing the very best of their local talent performing alongside and mentoring the rising stars of tomorrow.

Headlining the production is Anna Maria Sparke as Maleficent. She will be joined onstage by a cast of 40, including Carolanne Adams (Jane), Tianna Andrews, Shay Beatty, Dane Bogosian (Doug), Charley Booth, Arms Brown (Beast), Kaitlyn Bundrick-Brown (Snow White), Annasyn Burlison, Samuel Copeland (Jafar), Cara Derrick (Cruella), Natalie Davis, Nichole Donahoe, Mac Denham, Amelia Downey, Darion Elie (Jay), Ray Evans, Emerson Fite, Fordham Hammond (Carlos), Emerson Jones, Claire Kevil (Audrey), Bryanna Lacey, Katie Lerchie (Grimhilde), Bella Mainiero (Mal), Celeste Malmay (Evie), Samuel Menard, Jaya McSharma (Fairy Godmother), Christian Perkins (Ben), Alyson Peyton, Kezia Pigford (Belle), Juliana Portie, Jersey Shadoin, Elizabeth Shoup, Brian Smith (Maurice), Bryce Turner (Chad), Abigail Weyermuller, with special appearances by Mandy Hammond (Tinker Bell), Glenda Johnson (Sleeping Beauty), Kasie Mainiero (Cinderella), and Minnie Malmay (Pocahontas).
