Auditions for Little Shop of Horrors will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. for adults at the Shreveport Little Theatre. The audition will start with a mandatory dance call for adults auditioning at 11:00 a.m. on March 26. Those auditioning should enter through the front door of Shreveport Little Theatre. A member of the production team will be present to assist individuals signing-in.
After the 11 a.m. dance call, singing auditions will begin, per sign-in order during registration. Callbacks will take place in the theatre on Sunday, March 27, at 6:00 p.m. For those called back, there will be a designated callback time assigned for specific roles.
Those auditioning should bring sheet music and be prepared to sing 16 to 32 bars of a Broadway song in this musical style. An accompanist will be provided. Singing a cappella or with a karaoke CD will not be permitted.
Those auditioning should consider wearing appropriate clothes for dance and vocal auditions. Those auditioning are encouraged to bring a headshot and theatre resume, which will not be returned. A list of conflicts during the rehearsal period and show run (May 31- July 31) will be requested at registration.
A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.
The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination.
The musical will be directed and choreographed by Laura Beeman Nugent, with musical direction by Adam Philley.
Performances for Little Shop of Horrors are scheduled for July at 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, & 30 7:30 p.m. and July 17, 24, & 31 at 2 p.m. at the historic Shreveport Little Theatre, located at 812 Margaret Place.
