SLT has announced auditions for its production of Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, by Alan Ball. The show is presented by Shreveport Little Theatre and directed by Robert Alford II.

Auditions will be on Tuesday, October 3 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. at LSU Shreveport’s  Workshop Theatre, in Bronson Hall #307 at 1 University Place, Shreveport, LA. The performances are scheduled for January 12 and 13, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. and matinees on January 13 and 14, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Shreveport Little Theatre, 812 Margaret Place, Shreveport, LA 71101.

Five very different bridesmaids find themselves hiding together in a bedroom, hoping to escape the wedding reception of a bride they soon realize none of them really like. These five disparate but identically dressed women talk, laugh, argue, cry, console one another, and slowly become friends.

Roles Available for Casting (4 women, 1 man)
Georgeanne
Female. 25-40
Erratic, hyperemotional, neurotic, and high strung; married with a child and is at serious crossroads in her life; in the midst of an emotional break down and her emotions, needs, and insecurities are all hanging out raw for everyone to see despite her best efforts to keep it together.

Merdith
Female. 18-25
Athletic, rebellious, angry, and precocious; challenges the Southern Belle mold with an abrasive delight; sees through the facade of the world she has been brought up in, much to the chagrin of her family; desperate to move out and get away from Southern society living. There is a brief moment when Meredith flashes her mother through her bedroom window. This will be staged discreetly.

Mindy
Female. 25-40
Attractive, alluring, the life of a party, and yet klutzy; a lesbian who walks to the unique beat of her own drum, which sometimes has her running into inanimate objects, but serves her well other than the occasional bump and bruise; has gained a good deal of perspective having lived outside of the loop and from her own past experiences of having to live inside of it.

Frances
Female. 18-25
Impressionable, sweet, slightly nervous, and sheltered; a devout Christian still living under the close guidance of her parents who are
grooming her to be the picture of Southern Christian innocence, humility, and politeness.

Tripp
Male. 20-35
Hip, charming, and attuned; a man who likes to live in the moment and go after what he wants not because he is particularly ambitious, but because he hates to miss out on a perfectly good opportunity; suave in a natural way, but there is not a manipulative bone in his body; interested in Trisha and not afraid to show it.

Aubrey Brummett has already been cast in the role of Trisha. For information/audition materials call (318) 797-5283 or email robert.alford@lsus.edu.
