The City of Shreveport and Rev Entertainment have announced a partnership to build a new multi-sports facility that will bring professional baseball back to Shreveport.
Rev Entertainment and the City are still in the early stages of finalizing the professional baseball team that will call Shreveport home, but did mention it would be a professional league team. They also plan to host college baseball tournaments and similar events. While baseball will be the pivotal sport of the new facility, they understand the importance of building a multi-use facility for multiple sports to thrive.
The new facility will be a state-of-the-art facility that will house baseball, other sports, and entertainment. After meeting with Rev Entertainment a few months ago, they believe this company is the perfect partner to bring Shreveport sports into the future.
“They have matched our enthusiasm for this project,” Mayor Perkins said. “And have been encouraging us to dream even bigger.” Rev Entertainment is the same company that provides the experience at Globe Life Field, field of the Texas Rangers major league baseball team, located in Arlington, Texas.
The President of Rev Entertainment joined the Mayor for the press conference, expressing his commitment and excitement for the project as well.
“Baseball will be the anchor,” the president stated. “But what we want to do in this community and how we want to partner with these stakeholders: this has to be complimentary.”
Mayor Perkins stated that this was a completely separate project from the ongoing challenges of Fairgrounds Field. He noted the high-visibility of the area from the interstate and the urgent need to revitalize it. The new facility will be built on part of the 180 acres in that same area.
“We are on a threshold of transformation and we invite the citizens of Shreveport to help us shape this area into something we can all be proud of,” Mayor Perkins said.
While many listening sessions with key stakeholders have already been held, the President of Rev Entertainment reaffirmed the need to continue listening to what the community needs and wants. They assured those in attendance that there was much more work that would be done to ensure a collaborative approach to the project.
“The work starts today,” he said. “We’ve been working but it’ll be a lot more than Rev Entertainment.”
Rev Entertainment is an Arlington-based company that specializes in building and managing multi-million dollar mix-use facilities. While they’ve got a strong team that has been instrumental in other big-name projects, they look forward to hiring many local people to work for the new facility as well.
