ShrevePride, a community organization focused on creating authentic, inclusive events, is proud to announce that the fourth annual Field Gay will be held Saturday, April 6th at A.C. Street Park in Shreveport. Last year, organizers moved the event from blistering summer to a much milder spring event.
“Moving Field Gay to the spring last year was definitely the right decision,” reflects Nicole Ortiz, Field Gay organizer. “The weather was beautiful, people stayed longer and had more fun exploring the many offerings of the event, so we decided to keep the spring date going forward.”
What is Field Gay 2024?
Field Gay is a family-friendly callback to the fun of elementary school field day games. The event brings families and friends together for friendly community competition. Classic Field Gay games like Tug of War, Pass the Water, Ping Pong Shake, and Pizza Box Relay will return along with some new challenges.
“We love getting feedback on our games each year and we hear you,” says Field Gay Game Designer Chris Lyon. “Hungry Hungry Hippos is out, and Roller Basketball is in. We’re also swapping out the Three Legged Race with a new race called Anything But Running which is going to be so much fun.”
Registration Details
Anyone can register to play. Groups of 5-8 may sign up as a team. Individuals may sign up and will be added to existing teams with room to spare or grouped into new teams, creating opportunities for new friendships and a beautiful day of community. Registration is open now.
Event Information
Beyond thrilling games, Field Gay spectators can visit numerous community vendors, informational booths, and food trucks. Guests are encouraged to set up chairs and tents, while cheering on their favorite team. Ribbons will be awarded for each game won, and a trophy will be presented to the winning team.
Field Gay also acts as a fundraiser for one ShrevePride’s flagship events: Shreveport Q-Prom 2024, a second-chance prom experience which will be held in June of this year.
