Cirque du Soleil brings high-energy, acrobatic production to Bossier

Cirque de Soleil has announced they are bringing their high-energy and high-acrobatic production OVO to the Brookshire Grocery Arena from February 11 through Feb 13, 2022. A total of five productions will allow audiences of all ages to dive into the eccentric, colorful world of OVO – a dynamic, immersive ecosystem inhabited by an acrobatic colony of insects!

The Bossier production will be the first show in the OVO World Tour as they relaunch the show after being shut down from the effects of COVID-19.

I remember attending my first Cirque du Soleil production just a few years ago. Watching the performers achieve such amazing feats and fly through the air high above you with no harnesses, is enough to get your adrenaline going. The jaw-dropping acrobatics achieved by these people from all over the world look effortless and were nothing short of amazing! I look forward to returning to see OVO as well.

That’s one of the great things about Cirque du Soleil: every year they come the show has a new theme. So if you’ve attended a show in the past, while you have an idea of the production level and acrobatics you can expect to see, the show will be performed in a whole new light, with a brand new cast, along with different dazzling and mesmerizing displays.

An exciting Cirque du Soleil experience, OVO (“egg” in Portuguese) is a colorful intrusion into the life of insects; a non-stop riot of energy, color and movement. Through jaw-dropping acrobatics highlighting the unique personalities and abilities of selected insect species, OVO explores the beauty of biodiversity in all its contrasts and vibrancy.

While there is no narration, you’ll be guided through a warm, feel-good story that challenges how we accept change. But ultimately, the story will be different for each individual. That’s the beauty of a Cirque de Soleil show. All of the visuals, music, and performances speak to an international language that encourages a young child and adult alike to take away completely different themes from the show.

From mighty crickets bouncing off trampolines to a hypnotic spider contorting inside her web, OVO exudes extraordinary showmanship to tickle the imagination. Funny and chaotic, yet adorable and wonderful, OVO charms our inner child with its sweet exuberance.

With a live band, video projections and a multitude of high-flying acrobatics, the  heart touching and colorful world of OVO is the perfect gift for a special Valentine celebration!

Since November 2021, the OVO cast and crew members have started to arrive in Montreal, Canada where the relaunch of the show is underway. Trainings are a daily occurrence at the Cirque du Soleil International Headquarters where, in addition to many well-loved acts, exciting, brand new acrobatic performances are being created to delight and amaze the entire family!

“Many of our artists have expressed how much they can’t wait to get back on the stage,” said Janie Mallet, publicist and spokesperson for the OVO production of Cirque de Soleil. “The positive and uplifting nature of the show is something that we can all look forward too and something that we could all use right now.”
