The Shreveport Regional Arts Council announces the return of their award-winning gala, Christmas in the Sky, recognized by Special Events International Magazine for the “Best Gala in the World” award.
Christmas in the Sky is produced every other year by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, and in 2022 the event returns to its historic home at the all-new Louisiana Downs on the second Saturday in December: December 10, 2022.
2022 celebrates the 19th biennial, black-tie, glitzy, glamorous, internationally award-winning, fundraiser for the Shreveport Regional Arts Council. Following a 40 year tradition of outlandish themes that dare you to imagine a new reality, the Arts Council brings a theme that creates an entirely imaginative realm with the unleashing of Kiss A Frog, An Enchanted Evening of Fairy Tales, Tall Tales and CockTales!
The King of the Sky Realm is presenting sponsor, Michael T. Acurio, MD. Michael leads a cadre of knights in shining armor who have conquered the terrors of the COVID reign and deftly brought the SRAC Kingdom back to life with the return of the SKY Gala.
Christmas in the Sky is a volunteer driven fundraiser. The production of Christmas in the Sky requires an organization comprising 15 separate volunteer committees working tirelessly throughout the year to secure auction donations, sponsorships, and create sets, props, and costumes that bring the story to life. A team of more than 500 dwarfs, volunteers, “whistle while they work” to produce Christmas in the Sky during an 18-month preparation period focused on spinning cardboard, foam core, and recycled found objects into gold – glitter – and glitz!
Christmas in the Sky is the premiere gala event in the Ark-La-Tex and is chaired by the new Queen of the Sky Realm, Heidi Kallenberg. Elizabeth Kennedy and Ro White are her attendants… well, co-chairs! The “Good Fairy” is veteran Design Chair, Linda B. Goldsberry and her Co-Chair is Donna Poimbeouf. This year they will pair with Bruce Allen who will serve as the Production Director for Kiss A Frog!
