Shreveport-Bossier Black Restaurant Week kicked off its inaugural weeklong celebration with Brown Sugar Soirée at Fat Calf Brasserie. The evening began with mingling under the stars on the Fat Calf patio with music provided by the always amazing, Chaynler Joie. The event was hosted by Loving This Life Jada.
The night of elegance continued with our first expertly created dessert and cocktail pairing. Caked by Britt delivered a carrot cake with a brown sugar cream cheese icing, with a side of spiced pecans. Brandezous Productions served up an Autumn Spritzer cocktail that paired perfectly with the flavors of the cake.
The evening continued with a collaboration on the next dish, by KimYummy’s and Caked by Britt. They created an Uncle Nearest Pound Cake with an Uncle Nearest Peach Cobbler Sauce, paired with Brandezous’ Uncle Nearest Old Fashioned. This dish really got the evening going!
We finished out the night with Kimyummy’s sweet potato cookie and sweet potato ice cream with a cranberry sauce. This dish was paired with a cold brew martini.
By the end of the evening, I had met some amazing people, made valuable connections with the people at my table, and looked forward to hanging out with them in the future! It was an elegant evening of fun, flavors, and laughs!
