Shreveport Little Theatre announced its 104th season, themed “The Magic of Stories” —an exciting season featuring a dynamic lineup of Broadway classics, heartwarming tales, and youth-centered productions that invite audiences of all ages to discover the magic of stories.
With a legacy of excellence in community theatre, SLT continues to delight and inspire with five iconic Main Stage productions that showcase the transformative power of the stage.
This season’s productions include beloved musicals, a holiday classic, and thrilling dramatic comedies:
Guys and Dolls – Opening the season with high-stakes romance and toe-tapping tunes
A musical masterpiece by Frank Loesser, Guys and Dolls follows gamblers, showgirls, and mission workers through the bustling streets of New York City. With memorable songs like “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” this classic Broadway hit is a charming tale of unlikely love and redemption.
The 39 Steps – A fast-paced comic thriller based on the Hitchcock classic
Mix a Hitchcock spy thriller with a dash of Monty Python and you get The 39 Steps—a hilarious stage adaptation where four actors play dozens of roles in a whirlwind of espionage, romance, and slapstick. It’s a tour-de-force of theatrical ingenuity and physical comedy.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street -A chilling musical tale of vengeance and meat pies
Stephen Sondheim’s dark and brilliant Sweeney Todd brings the tale of the vengeful barber and his pie-baking accomplice to the SLT stage. With a soaring and sinister score, this Tony Award-winning musical is as haunting as it is unforgettable.
A Christmas Carol – A beloved holiday classic with a mix of Christmas caroling
SLT’s A Christmas Carol will warm hearts and spark holiday spirit. Join Ebenezer Scrooge on his redemptive journey with the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future in this faithful adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless story.
Oliver! An inspiring tale of resilience and hope
Lionel Bart’s Oliver! brings Charles Dickens’ classic to musical life. Follow young Oliver Twist as he navigates the streets of Victorian London in search of family and belonging. Featuring cherished songs like “Food, Glorious Food” and “Consider Yourself,” this musical is perfect for audiences of all ages. In conjunction with SLT Academy’s Junior High Program.
In addition to its dynamic mainstage lineup, Shreveport Little Theatre season includes a compelling Lagniappe production of A Soldier’s Play by Charles Fuller – a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama that confronts themes of race, identity, and justice within a segregated World War II-era military unit—offering audiences a powerful and timely theatrical experience.
In addition to the joint production of Oliver!, SLT Academy season shows will showcase the talents of young performers with family-friendly favorites: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr., a heartwarming holiday classic; Disney’s High School Musical, the energetic tale of teens breaking free from expectations; and Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr., a colorful adventure through a world of imagination and sweets.
“Our 104th season truly celebrates the magic, diversity, and depth of stories,” said Laura Beeman Nugent, SLT’s Artistic Director. “From the unforgettable music of Sweeney Todd and Oliver! to the thought-provoking themes of A Soldier’s Play, and the energy of our youth productions, there’s something for everyone this year.”
Rounding out the season’s festivities, Shreveport Little Theatre will also host two fundraisers that blend entertainment with community support. Broadway Belters Twisted ’26 is lively musical revue where favorite local performers put a unique spin on classic Broadway hits—flipping genders, genres, and expectations for a one-weekend-only of show-stopping surprises and vocal fireworks. Later in the season, SLT will present Love, Loss, and What I Wore, a poignant and often hilarious staged reading by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, based on the book by Ilene Beckerman. This heartfelt piece explores the memories and milestones women associate with clothing and identity, told through a series of personal vignettes. Both events serve as vital fundraisers supporting SLT’s mission and operations while offering audiences unforgettable experiences beyond the mainstage.
Season tickets and individual show tickets will be available starting May 7, 2025. Patrons can choose from five season ticket packages, tailoring their season experiences at SLT to fit their needs.
