Mayor Arceneaux is pleased to announce the appointment of William “Bill” Sabo as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Shreveport, effective, November 1, 2024, subject to City Council confirmation. Sabo brings years of experience in economic development, business growth, and strategic planning, making him an invaluable asset to the city as it continues to focus on economic growth and prosperity.
Sabo is currently the Regional Director of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith. No stranger to Louisiana, before his current role in Arkansas, Sabo was the Director of Food, Music, and Technology for the New Orleans Business Alliance; he also worked under Mayor Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans, implementing White House economic development initiatives to create training and career pathways for non-traditional technology candidates to train for entry-level technology jobs.
Sabo earned a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and graduated from the school of business at both Stanford University and MIT. Sabo is a Certified Professional Project Manager, a Certified Entrepreneurial Development Professional, and a Certified Economic Developer.
As Director of Economic Development, Sabo will lead efforts to grow new businesses, retain existing ones, and create job opportunities for Shreveport residents, especially in historically underserved communities. His experience in both the public and private sectors has equipped him with the tools and expertise necessary to foster meaningful economic progress for the city.
