United Way of Northwest Louisiana (UWNWLA) will host its 40th Day of Caring volunteer event on Thursday, May 1, sponsored in part by Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana. Day of Caring is the largest single-day, community-wide volunteer event in Northwest Louisiana. The event will host approximately 350 volunteers from local businesses and organizations committed to making a difference in the communities where they live and work.
During Day of Caring, a volunteer team of 5-15 people is partnered with a nonprofit agency to complete a project that the organization may not have the manpower or financial resources to hire outside help to complete. That’s where volunteers come in; UWNWLA will recruit, organize, and prepare volunteers at no expense to the nonprofits.
“Day of Caring reminds us that the heart of Northwest Louisiana is its people. When we come together to serve, we’re not just helping others—we’re building a stronger, more connected community,” said UWNWLA Interim Director of Community Impact Kimberly Williams. “In just one day, hundreds of passionate community members from all walks of life roll up their sleeves to complete meaningful projects for local nonprofits. Now in its 40th year, Day of Caring has grown into more than just a volunteer event. It’s a living tradition and a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can spark big change.”
This year, UWNWLA is celebrating Day of Caring 2025 with a fresh new look and renewed energy, as part of United Way’s nationwide brand refresh campaign, United is the Way. The day will kick off with a high-energy pep rally breakfast at the Live! Casino & Hotel ballroom, where volunteer teams will enjoy entertainment from DJ Smiley, exciting raffle prizes, and a crowd-favorite group dance to Boots on the Ground by 803Fresh. After breakfast, teams will head out to complete impactful projects that uplift our local nonprofits and community.
Thanks to overwhelming community support, Day of Caring 2025 has officially reached full capacity! All volunteer team spots and nonprofit project submissions are now closed. United Way is incredibly grateful for the enthusiastic response and can’t wait to see the impact the volunteers will make on May 1.
They invite everyone to follow along with the day’s excitement on social media! Catch behind-the-scenes moments, project highlights, and community stories by following United Way of Northwest Louisiana on Facebook and using the hashtag #DOC2025.
