ShrevePride is hopping into Field Gay Year 5 early this spring on Saturday, March 29th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at A.C. Steere Park in Shreveport.
“It’s amazing that we are celebrating our fifth year of Field Gay,” said ShrevePride co-founder Nicole Ortiz. “We have enjoyed welcoming the whole community to experience the joy of field day in a unique way.”
ShrevePride, (ShrevePride.com), is a local organization focused on providing diverse, inclusive, affordable, safe spaces for our region’s entertainment created with the LGBTQIA+ community in mind, but where everyone is invited. Field Gay is geared toward bringing back the fun of elementary school field day games. A friendly community competition, Field Gay features classic games like tug of war and four square, while introducing new, exciting games like Ping-Pong Shake, now classic to Field Gay, and Pizza Box Relay.
“We will always give you the classics for field day and Field Gay,” says ShrevePride organizer Lindsey Adams. “To keep things exciting, we are introducing Giant Cornhole this year, and I can’t wait for everyone to try it.”
Along with exciting games, Field Gay spectators can visit numerous community vendors, informational booths, and food trucks. Guests are encouraged to set up chairs and tents, while cheering on their team. Ribbons will be awarded for each game won, and a trophy is presented to the final winners.
In addition to Field Gay, ShrevePride’s calendar year includes the Ark-La-Tex’s biggest Pride Month party, Shreveport Q-Prom, which will take place in June of this year.
There are two ways to register to play at Field Gay: as a team (5-8 Players), or as an individual. Registration is open now with a suggested donation of $5 for individuals and $25 for teams. Vendor registration is also open for businesses, organizations, and food trucks. Find registration and schedule details at www.shrevepride.com/fieldgay.
