Lilah’s Bakery hosted a ribbon cutting and grand re-opening on Thursday, January 2nd to celebrate the start of Mardi Gras season. Guests had a “first look” at bakery production in action, along with the improvements made to the bakery facility in order to expand King Cake capacity, the addition of a gift shop offering Louisiana-themed items, and a tasting of the 2025 King Cake flavors.

Since 2006, Lilah’s Bakery has been serving the Shreveport/Bossier community and beyond with their delicious King Cakes using flavors that are as uplifting as the traditions of Mardi Gras. Lisa Tike has played a role in operations since the beginning, from developing recipes to managing operations. After acquiring full ownership of Lilah’s Bakery in 2022, Lisa has taken the business to new heights by selling over 22,000 King Cakes each year. In order to continue offering the same great product locally and shipping to all 50 states, the bakery space improvements were necessary to maximize capacity. With a staff of 25, Lilah’s Bakery is able to efficiently make 800 cakes a day with the new improvements. Lilah’s Bakery offers 20 King Cake flavors along
with 9 flavors of the week plus “Indecision”, which is a box of eight flavors, four top flavors and four flavors of the week.

In addition to the bakery improvements, Lilah’s Bakery is now home to a gift shop offering Mardi Gras and Louisiana-themed items, with the majority being made locally and regionally. The gift shop includes items such as candles, kitchen towels, stickers, drink syrups, t-shirts, jewelry, car freshies, and more.

“We are excited to honor the rich tradition of King Cake while infusing our own creativity into the bakery,” said Lisa Tike, Owner of Lilah’s Bakery. “Our goal is to create a fun and inviting space for families and friends to find items to help celebrate the Mardi Gras season. We can’t wait to share our new offerings with our loyal customers and welcome new faces to the bakery.”

Lilah’s Bakery is now open Monday through Saturdays from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sundays from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, located at 1718 Centenary Boulevard, Shreveport, Louisiana 71101. For more information, visit LilahsKingCakes.com.

In 2006, Lisa Tike and her business partner opened Lilah’s Bakery (named after her daughter, Lila). Lisa wanted to find a way to celebrate the Louisiana culture through food and helped develop the king cake recipe they still use today. In their first year selling king cakes, in 2008, Lilah’s Bakery sold approximately 70 cakes. Lisa and her team developed a menu using a simple philosophy- offer the freshest king cakes using flavors that are as uplifting as the traditions of Mardi Gras. Lisa gained full ownership of the bakery in 2022.

Lisa’s approach proved to be a winning formula- during the 2022 Carnival season, Lilah’s Bakery sold an estimated 22,800 King Cakes. To accommodate this dramatic growth the Lilah’s Bakery family includes approximately 25 people every Mardi Gras, many of whom return season after season. Lisa’s success with King Cakes has led Lilah’s Bakery to introduce popular, holiday-themed King Cakes for Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, & Christmas, while continuing to use the same recipes and techniques that made them the local favorites.
